    How does the ZIP code search work?

    We measure straight-line distance from the center of your ZIP code to each theater, then sort closest first. Actual driving distance will be a little longer — in the Adirondacks and the Southern Tier, sometimes quite a bit longer. Use the directions link on each card for a real route.

    Do drive-ins take credit cards?

    Not all of them. Several New York drive-ins are still cash-only at the ticket booth, and a few take cards only at the snack bar. Each listing notes what we found, but bring cash as a backup — especially in the North Country and the Mohawk Valley.

    When does drive-in season run in New York?

    Most open in April or May and close in late September or October. A handful only run Friday through Sunday outside of peak summer. Season dates are listed on each card, but weather closes drive-ins on short notice — check the theater's page the day you plan to go.

    Can I bring my own food?

    Policies vary and the snack bar is how most of these theaters survive. Some prohibit outside food entirely, others sell a picnic permit for $5 to $15. It's listed on each card where we could confirm it. Supporting the concession stand is the single best thing you can do to keep a drive-in open.
