The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum preserves the history of American baseball across three floors of exhibits on Cooperstown's Main Street. Its centerpiece is the Plaque Gallery, where bronze plaques honor every elected Hall of Famer, with new members added each summer during Induction Weekend. Galleries trace the game's origins, the Negro Leagues, women in baseball, and every major league club, while Shoebox Treasures displays rare baseball cards and Whole New Ballgame covers the modern era. The Bullpen Theater screens films, and the adjacent Giamatti Research Center opens weekdays for researchers. Ninety-minute private guided tours can be booked in advance. Doubleday Field is a block away, and the Fenimore Art Museum and Farmers' Museum sit on Otsego Lake just north of the village.
