The Nunda Ranch is a 50-acre working horse ranch in the Genesee Valley, about five miles from Letchworth State Park in western New York and the only guest ranch of its kind in the area. Under new ownership since 2019, it combines horse boarding and an events business with a small lodging operation.
Overnight guests choose between a 4,800-square-foot ranch house sleeping up to sixteen, with four bedrooms, an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, game room and fire pit, or a rustic ranch-hand cabin furnished with a queen bed, wood-burning stove and shared bathroom facilities in the barn. Guided trail rides operate year-round by reservation across a trail network graded from easy to strenuous, with helmets, tack and horses supplied, and riding lessons run for everyone from toddlers to returning riders. 1000 Acres Ranch Resort runs along the banks of the Hudson River at Stony Creek, inside the Adirondack Park and about 25 minutes from Lake George. The seasonal all-inclusive ranch has been relaunched around a full-service kosher kitchen under Tartakov hashgacha and now caters largely to Jewish families, offering daily minyanim alongside its ranch program. Lodging is a mix of recently renovated riverfront knotty-pine cabins and rooms in historic two-story ranch houses.
Wranglers lead nose-to-tail trail rides on a herd of quarter horses and draft crosses, with walking, trot and canter groups plus an extended river-crossing ride for experienced riders, booked as an add-on. Stays include three meals daily and access to outdoor and indoor pools, an indoor hot tub, a private river beach, kayaking, tubing, a ropes course, disc golf and live music at the Red Dog Saloon. Pets are welcome at $30 per pet per night with proof of rabies vaccination; they must be leashed outdoors and are not permitted in the dining room or saloon.

Driftwood Ranch is a working horse and cattle ranch turned small luxury guest ranch at White Lake, in the Sullivan County Catskills roughly 90 minutes from New York City. Accommodation is limited to a handful of individually themed suites, the Longhorn, Western Barn, Museum and Cattle Drive suites, plus the Driftwood Timber Lodge, each fitted with handcrafted western furnishings and stone fireplaces, with breakfast included.
Professional horsemen run the riding side, offering trail rides over about three miles of wooded paths, western lessons for all levels and specialty sessions in roping and barrel racing; guests can also help feed the ranch's longhorn cattle. Fishing ponds, kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, leather-stamping classes and campfire evenings with live music and cowboy poetry fill the rest of the day. Ridin-Hy Ranch Resort spreads across 700 acres on private Sherman Lake in Warrensburg, inside the southeastern Adirondack Park and a short drive from Lake George. Family-operated since the 1940s, it remains one of the most traditional dude ranches left in the Northeast, with all-inclusive rates covering lodging, meals, activities and nightly entertainment.
The riding program combines guided trail rides across the ranch's wooded trail network with complimentary instruction from resident wranglers; rides are graded by ability from walk-only groups through experienced walk-trot-canter rides, alongside corral lessons, pony rides, wagon rides, hayrides and a guest rodeo. Rocking Horse Ranch Resort occupies more than 500 acres of rolling Hudson Valley countryside outside Highland in Ulster County, roughly 90 minutes north of New York City. Family-run for decades, the all-inclusive resort pairs a genuine trail-riding operation with full resort infrastructure, a rare combination among Eastern dude ranches. Its stable keeps a string of about 119 horses and runs year-round guided rides graded from walk-only outings through advanced walk-trot-canter trips, plus junior wrangler pony rides and horsemanship demonstrations.
Away from the barn there is the Big Splash indoor water park, Eldorado hot springs pools, a private lake for kayaking, canoes, paddle boats and banana-boat rides, a winter tubing hill, nightly live entertainment and an exotic wildlife exhibit. Thyme In The Country occupies five acres of meadow, pond and garden six miles east of Hudson, in the farm country of Columbia County. The property centres on an 1880s farmhouse and offers three self-catering cottages, each converted from an existing outbuilding, an old milkhouse, a barn and a countryside hideaway, and furnished with antiques, natural fibres and hand-finished detail.
Cottages have full or summer kitchens and wood or gas fireplaces, and two use chemical-free composting toilets in keeping with the owners' green practices. Guests share an in-ground pool, gardens that supply fresh produce, walking trails and resident goats and geese. Hudson's Warren Street galleries, antique shops, orchards and Hudson River towns are all close by. Pets cannot be accommodated.

Trout House Village Resort lines the shore of Lake George at Hague, at the quiet northern end of the lake. Lodging is spread across log cabins and one-, two- and three-bedroom cottages, a nine-bedroom country inn, motel rooms and private rental homes, most within steps of the water. The centrepiece is a 400-foot natural sand beach with a gentle entry, backed by private docks where guests can rent dock space, shallow slips or beach a boat.
Canoes, kayaks, rowboats, paddle boats, stand-up paddleboards and sailboats are free to use. The grounds also hold a nine-hole putting green, shuffleboard, bocce, horseshoes, volleyball and ping pong. Nearby are hikes to the Lookout and the historic graphite mines, fishing charters and Lake George steamboat cruises. Pets are considered September through June on an invitation basis only, and are not permitted in the Country Inn, motel rooms or summer weekly stays.
