Angel Rock sits on the St. Lawrence River at Cape Vincent, near the point where the river leaves Lake Ontario and the Thousand Islands begin. The resort rents 32 cottages and vacation homes sleeping one to fourteen guests, most with large water-view decks, ranging from one-bedroom riverside cottages to five-bedroom houses suited to reunions and fishing parties.
Protected dockage is available to guests by advance reservation, and everyone may fish from the docks, with fish-cleaning stations on site; kayak and canoe rentals are offered. Landside facilities include a heated in-ground seasonal pool, sand volleyball and shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, a playground, campfire areas, guest laundry and a gift shop. A restored barn on the grounds hosts weddings and gatherings. Pets are not permitted.

Phoenicia Lodge is a revived mid-century motor lodge on Route 28 in the hamlet of Phoenicia, deep in the Catskill Mountains and only steps from the Esopus Creek. Its 15 units mix renovated suites and inn rooms with private one- and two-bedroom cottages that have full kitchens, and one cottage adds its own fenced yard.
Guests share a communal fire pit, barbecue facilities, bicycle rentals and a complimentary continental breakfast, and the creek at the end of the property draws anglers, swimmers and summer tubers. The village's restaurants and shops are a short walk away, while Belleayre Mountain, Hunter Mountain and Woodstock are all within a short drive for skiing, hiking and gallery-hopping. The cottages are dog-friendly.

Accommodation ranges from one-bedroom units, including an ADA-accessible cottage, to two- and four-bedroom cottages and a lakefront Grand Chalet sleeping twelve; kitchens, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi are standard.
Guests share a lakefront sundeck and boat dock, communal fire pits, gas grills, a playground and a nature path, and boat-and-trailer parking is available in the upper field. Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen International, Hector Falls and the Seneca Lake wineries and distilleries are within a short drive. Pets are accepted in three of the 29 cottages only, for small dogs of 30 lb or under, with prior approval and breed restrictions.

Letchworth State Park follows the Genesee River as it carves a deep gorge through western New York, a landscape of sheer cliffs and major waterfalls that has long earned it the nickname the Grand Canyon of the East. The campground offers 270 tent and trailer sites in wooded loops, supplemented by cabins bookable from May into late November, with showers, grills, a playground and playing fields.
Roughly 66 miles of hiking trails link the gorge overlooks and interior woodlands, and the park adds a swimming pool, gift shop, nature center and visitor center. Guided whitewater rafting and kayaking operate on the Genesee in season, and equestrian and snowmobile trails, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing extend use into winter. Pets are permitted in camping loops 100, 200, 700 and 800, and in Cabin Area C.

Wellesley Island State Park is the flagship park of the Thousand Islands and the largest camping complex in the region, with 432 campsites laid out across an island in the St. Lawrence River reached via the Thousand Islands Bridge. The Fox loop provides 56 full-hookup sites, and the park also rents rustic cabins and twelve two- and three-bedroom vacation cottages, several available year-round.
A full-service marina with dockage, boat rentals and four launch ramps makes it a natural base for St. Lawrence boating and fishing, and the grounds include a sandy swimming beach, a nine-hole golf course, camp store, laundromat and arcade. The Minna Anthony Common Nature Center anchors a preserve with three miles of shoreline and accessible trails. A maximum of two pets are permitted, crated or leashed.

Hither Hills State Park stretches across the Montauk peninsula between Napeague Harbor and the Atlantic, and its 189-site campground sits directly on a sandy ocean beach, one of the few places in New York State where campers wake within sight of the surf. The beach is lifeguard-protected through the summer season, and the park is a long-established spot for surfing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and year-round surfcasting.
Inland, woodlands of oak, shad, pine and Russian olive are threaded with hiking, biking, bridle and cross-country ski trails, and the park also offers picnic areas with fireplaces, playing fields and a playground. Its best-known natural feature is the walking dunes at Napeague Harbor. Montauk village, the Montauk Point Lighthouse and Camp Hero State Park lie a short drive east. Camping runs April into late November.

Watkins Glen State Park sits at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, where Glen Creek has cut a narrow gorge several hundred feet below the surrounding forest. The park's celebrated gorge trail passes 19 waterfalls in roughly a mile, threading stone bridges, spiral stairways and a path that runs behind Cavern Cascade.
The campground occupies wooded ground on the upper rim and offers tent and trailer sites plus rustic cabins, with showers, grills, a playground and playing fields; an Olympic-size swimming pool operates in the park during the summer season. The village of Watkins Glen lies within easy walking distance, with the Seneca Lake wine trail, Watkins Glen International raceway and Montour Falls all close at hand. Camping typically runs May through October, and a maximum of two pets are permitted at campsites.
